First Grade Happenings! 

Welcome to our website! I am so excited to tell you all about what we are doing in class! We are gaining independence and beginning to take on more responsibilities. My goal is to see our students grow both socially and academically. We work hard each day, but have lots of fun too! Your support makes all the difference, and I am grateful.  I look forward to building a successful partnership with you over the school year!

There are so many things to look forward to this year.

Please continue to look in your child's backpack each night and check their homework as well as any updates during the week. 

Science : Our Science Program is Mystery Science. We do a lot of reading, watch videos and do a lot of experiments together.

Math : Our Math program : Envisionmath. It is a fun and challenging program to keep our math skills up and running ! 

Social Studies : This year we will be learning about our communities, map skills and the way our government works. We will be discussing and learning about the holidays celebrated in different cultures.  We will continue to work on character education, Scholastic News and National Geographic Explorer.  

Writing : We will be able to build on our skills of writing with more creativity and finesse as we complete our Narrative, Opinion and Informative pieces. 

Reading : We will be exploring many fiction and non-fiction stories.  We will continue to use our reading strategies and skills to help us gain a better understanding of the written word. 

iReady: We practice our reading and math skills on i-Ready. i-Ready provides each student with personalized instruction and support the needs of all learners.
