• Welcome!

I am so excited to be a part of your 8th grade journey! As we embark on this school year, I want to emphasize the importance of reading in our lives. Reading is not just a skill we develop in school—it’s a key that unlocks the door to endless possibilities. With that being said, there will be a big emphasis on independent reading in our class! There will also be some choice in what you read as well, so come ready to share your interests, and we can find a book that is just right for you!

As always, major assessments are worth 50% of the grade, minor assessments are worth 30% of the grade and independent assignments, such as classwork and homework, are worth 20% of the grade. Students can keep an eye on their grades by accessing the Genesis Student Portal.

My extra help will be held Monday morning at 7:15 a.m in room 304. You must fill out the extra help sign up sheet in my classroom the school day BEFORE extra help (which would be Friday), so that I am prepared to assist you with whatever skill needs reinforcement.

I am so very excited to meet you and look forward to a wonderful year!

    Best,

    Mrs. Elwood
