Employees who find themselves in need of a leave of absence must submit a letter to the Office of the Superintendent of Schools and the Human Resources Department detailing the type of leave requested, the start and end dates of the leave, whether the days will be charged against sick and personal days or unpaid. If it is a medical leave requiring unpaid days using the family leave act, a doctor’s note documenting the medical necessity for the leave must be submitted with the letter. The employee request will then be presented to the personnel committee and subsequent approval by the Board of Education.
