Welcome!

My name is Deena DeMaio and this is my 7th year as a Reading Specialist at Allenwood School. Previously, I taught 2nd grade for 6 years in another district. I graduated from Montclair State University, moving on to pursue my Masters in Literacy from Monmouth University. I have always had a passion for teaching reading, especially in small groups. I love finding new, hands-on, and fun strategies to work with. I especially love using a multisensory approach to teaching reading! I am so lucky to work with all grade levels and so many different Allenwood Dragons. 

When I am not teaching, I fill my days with fun and lots of love from my children at home. We love to ride bikes, color, bake, play with trucks and legos, go to the beach, and, of course, READ! Cuddling up with a good book before bed is my favorite thing to do with them. 

I look forward to another great year and helping all my students enjoy reading!
